Scootin’ around town has now taken a literal translation since actual scooters are suddenly everywhere! As these electric “vehicles” invade downtown areas of cities around the country, we couldn’t help but ask – What’s all the hoopla about? Well, for one (or two or three), they are cheap, convenient, and fun!! But this seemingly innocent and attractive new transit option can come with dangerous risk of serious injury or death if not used properly. Sipping on Hoopla California Cabernet, we discuss the current controversy around the scooter invasion and ponder if they are here to stay or a fad that will fizzle.
Could we BE any happier to have an episode dedicated to our favorite show, FRIENDS?! Your DBP hosts don’t need convincing of the appeal of this show, that hit TVs nationwide in 1994 – that means it’s 25 years old!! Even today, so much of what was covered in episodes still applies today, and we continue to find various aspects of our daily lives relating to a scene. Whether you’re more like Joey or Rachel, it doesn’t matter, because we’re sure you’ll find a connection in this episode. Break out your best, “I’ll be there for youuuuu,” and listen.
As the warm weather winds down, we share our top summer activities (just add wine!) and what makes it most special for us. We not only cover the best wines to drink in the summer, we also make sure that you’ll leave this episode with fun summer facts like did you know you can tell temperature through crickets?! Summer Water rosé keeps us hydrated in the heat as we bid farewell to our favorite season!
In this special episode, we interview Grant, Tasting Gallery Lead at family-owned Jessup Cellars in Napa Valley. Grant walks us through the philosophy of their winemaking practices, their belief in hospitality, and what makes their wine special. He also takes us on a journey through his own path from growing up in Napa to where he is now. As we get a more intimate look into the friendly Jessup Cellars and the lengths they will go to please their customers (flying to your home for your own personal wine tasting!), we sip on Table for Four, one of Jessup’s flagship wines. So grab a glass and listen in for a treat. As Grant says, “Every glass is an adventure!” and we can guarantee this one is!

Are you a curfew breaker? If you’re one of our listeners, we bet most of you probably have at some point! But, that doesn’t mean they don’t have a purpose for the younger generations. This episode, we discuss the history behind curfews, if they are effective (do they actually prevent youth crime or protect the younger crowds?), and do they potentially violate juvenile civil liberties (wait, what??). While we ponder the concept of curfews, we sip on the No Curfew red blend.
As the winemakers say, “Work will be work and adulting is hard, but we’ll be there when you need that reprieve. So kick off your shoes, settle onto the sofa, and sip away. Now Swirl, Sip & Repeat!” Cheers!

Now it’s time for a recap of our time in Napa Valley. From tasting rooms to vineyards, we had a variety of experiences through a range of widely accessible wines to limited productions! As we recount the rest of our first DBP trip to the motherland, we share everything from the Summer Release Event at Round Pond to a one-on-one tasting at the world-class Joseph Phelps with a spectacular view of their vineyards. Do as the “napkins” (aka, people from Napa) do, pour a glass and get transported to the DBP motherland!

Coming at you live from DBP’s motherland, California, this episode was recorded in our hotel after a long, delicious day of wine tasting through Sonoma County. After visiting four wineries – from small and rustic to a chateau with beautiful gardens – we share little tidbits from along the journey with history and fun facts, try to whittle down our list of favorites from the day, and recommend some stops for wine country travelers. Highlighted by meeting a couple of the winemakers themselves and capping off our day with chocolate and a little “S&M,” the Sonoma leg of our tour was a blast! According to the Californians, “You can drink whatever you want, as long as you drink wine.” Cheers!
It’s time to get a bit nostalgic with your DBP hosts, as we reflect on some of our favorite wines and episodes of the past year. From new beginnings to epidemics, we’ve learned and covered a lot. We’ve had a blast this past year and want to relive some of the magic we’ve experienced. Interested in some wine tips we’ve learned along the way? Listen in! Can you guess some of our favorite topics? Find out if you’re right! For this special occasion, we’re popping the cork of a DBP favorite: Gamba Zinfandel. Thanks for a memorable first year, and cheers to a fruitful – get it? – future with the drunk bitches of DBP!
Nobody likes to fail, but the US may be dubbed as a failure of one of the biggest public health achievements in our history. How, you ask? Not even halfway through the year, this country is already seeing the greatest number of measles cases in over 25 years – with more than 700 confirmed cases across 22 states as of the date of recording! As anti-vaxxers become more prevalent, with pockets of non-immunized communities popping up around the country, our most vulnerable are at risk. Even a small dip in immunity of the nation’s population can make this very contagious disease a threat. A topic that demands attention, yours truly delve into the details behind the spread of this potentially fatal virus and talk about the propaganda put out there…it’s absolutely terrifying!! As we discuss the evolution of this potential epidemic, we thought what better to sip on than Evolution White Wine from Oregon…grab a glass and listen in!

What do you do when you are famous and have more money than God? Buy a winery, of course! More and more, we have been seeing wine with a celebrity behind the label. Some make it pretty obvious that they are the proprietor of the winery (i.e., ACDC’s Highway to Hell Cabernet Sauvignon), while others we would have no idea! With a bottle of 2016 Uncaged Chardonnay by Z. Alexander Brown (or Zac Brown – who knew?!), we get into whether or not celebrities should be taken seriously as winemakers, and who of the ‘who’s who’ is making wine. Is it a Yay or Nay? You might have to try yourself to find out, so grab a bottle of your fave celeb’s wine and listen in!
