Ep81: DBP’s Christmas Top 10s

It’s time to get cozy with your DBP girls, as we run down a list of some of our festive top 10s that make us feel merry and bright. There is no better time of year to sip on something warm and pepperminty while watching Macaulay Culkin scream for the millionth time – because it is still that good. So take a break from the hustle and bustle and listen in as we recount our fave Christmas movies and activites that get us excited for the season. We decided to top this episode off with a warm, delicious treat perfect for the most wonderful time of year: German mulled wine or Glühwein. Cheers and be merry, DBPeeps!

Ep74: Eat, Drink, and Be Scary

Trick or Treat, smell our feet, give us something good to eat! We’re known for our love of wine, but we also have quite the sweet tooth – teeth? – especially around Halloween. From pumpkin shaped Reese’s to candy corn (does anyone really like it?), all of us have our fave treats this time of year. We share some of ours, the story behind the beloved candy tradition, and the darker side of trick-or-treating…dare we say…poison?! Grab some candy, pick your poison (we sure did!) and listen in!

Ep44: Canada, Climates, and Cru

When you start messing with the fate of wine, your DBP hosts’ most-beloved beverage, you’ve caught our attention. Climate change is no joke and it’s definitely causing a stir for wine-growing regions, especially those niche regions. Will Canada be able to continue making their signature icewine? Will we have to say goodbye to our favorite familiar varietals and welcome lesser-known ones? Will new wine regions pop up that we could have never imagined (Russian wine, anyone)? We don’t know for sure, but we had fun hypothesizing what opportunities and potential changes may be in store. We are definitely not scientists, but we can for damn sure speculate on wine. And we got our hands on a rare treat – a red wine from the only desert in the middle of a country that is 50% frozen: Canada!

Ep30: The Hunter & The Stag

‘Tis the season for bolder red wines and deer hunting! In this episode we’re joined by avid huntsman, Adam, as we explore the ethos of the modern, ethical hunter. Delving into the drive behind the hunt, we discuss the hunter’s responsiblity to the environment, the animal, and the earth, and how the stigma associated with the sport is not reflective of a true huntsman. This isn’t some float off into the woods and have a bonfire type of deal; it requires skill and a specific mindset. Fittingly paired with St. Hubert’s “The Stag” Cabernet Sauvignon, this episode is one that’ll prove insightful for those unfamiliar with the hunting world.
